What to Expect

Walking through the door of the Fitzrovia restaurant, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped in to a cool Berlin warehouse, with banging tunes to match. The latest opening in the Herman Ze German brotherhood, which includes another restaurant in Soho and a shop in Charing Cross, head to Fitzrovia to enjoy the great Black Forest sausage at any time of the day, thanks to their brand new brunch menu.

What to Eat

Coming highly recommended is the Big Fäddi Bumbaläddi (pictured at the top): German sausage patty, smoked Black Forest bacon, a fried egg and cheese stuffed in to a (rather sizeable) bun. Or, try a comforting bowl of the Spiced Butterbean Stew to ease you in to the day, with braised Black Forest ham, chilli wurst slices, a poached egg and pickled salsa. But it’s not all about sausage – vegetarians, try the Avocado and 2 Poached Eggs, served on toasted sourdough; or if you’re on a health-kick, go for a big bowl of Homemade Bircher Muesli with fresh fruit.

What to Drink

It wouldn’t be brunch without Bloody Marys and, boy, does Herman Ze Germans have a kick! There’s also a Virgin Mary if you’re recovering from the night before – or Prosecco if you’re continuing the party – as well as a good selection of tea and coffee.

Don’t Miss

If you don’t have time for brunch, check out the shop at Charing Cross, where you can grab a breakfast roll to go. Choose from bacon or sausage and egg, bacon and sausage, or sausage patty, egg and avocado – washed down with a cup of tea or coffee – to set you up for the day ahead.
