It’s Oktoberfest season. Not on your way to Munich for this year’s famed Oktoberfest? Fear not. We pick our favourites for food specials, beer festivals and parties to get to. Prost!

Book: Tickets to Oktoberfest at the Bavarian Beerhouse


Oktoberfest London will be celebrated at the Bavarian Beerhouse for a whopping five weeks from 21 September until 22 October.

What to Expect: Oompah bands will be playing, the German beers will be flowing, and you can indulge in a few Bavarian snacks served by waitresses in traditional Dirndl dresses and waiters in Lederhosen.

What to Eat and Drink: Last year Bavarian Beerhouse sold over 284,000 pints of German beers, 18,000 pork schnitzels, more than 40,000 sausages and almost 900 Kilos of Sauerkraut! There’s a clue for you there…

Best for: Ultimate Oktoberfest fans looking for a traditional experience.

What to Expect: A backdrop to an Alpine forest, long wooden tables and frothy steins of Hacker-Pschorr’s Oktoberfest ‘bier’.

What to Eat: The Art of Dining have developed a menu based on Bavarian flavours but with a twist – from warm pretzels, to hearty salads and delicious schnitzel, so fill up whether it’s a full feast or a quick bite.

What to Drink: Oktoberfest East will be serving up overflowing steins of the official Oktoberfest beer by Munich brewing powerhouse, Hacker-Pschorr.

Best for: Fans looking for a traditional party in an East London spot.

What to Expect: UBREW are hosting an Oktoberfest Tap Takeover on 8 October.

What to Drink: There’s not one, but two beers that have been brewed especially for the event, and don’t miss the other Oktoberfest beers on tap.

Wearing of lederhosen and yodelling will be encouraged but not compulsory!

Entry to this event is FREE, but since you’ll want to try them all, UBREW are offering three beers for £10 on their own brews. Get there early to avoid disappointment, as there’ll be limited stock!

Eat: Wurst at Herman Ze German


What to Expect: Ze Basement Bar in Herman‘s Fitzrovia spot will be transformed into Oktoberfest fun on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from Thursday 6 October, for four weeks!

What to Eat and Drink: The Sharing Platter with a selection of Wurst, Weisswurst, Pork Belly Speck, Leberkaese and Schnitzel! All of this comes with tangy pickles, homemade potato salad, Herman‘s fries, Brezel, and a stein of Oktoberfest Beer, all for just £35pp.

Pre-bookings for the two time slots can be made through DesignMyNight with the earlier sitting from 6pm-9pm and the later setting seeing the celebrations continuing into the night from 9pm ’til late.

Best for: Sausage party! Not that kind.

Dine: Pretzels, gourmet bratwursts and steins at The Frog


What to Expect: Adam Handling’s The Frog E1 will take on Oktoberfest…

What to Eat: Feast on freshly baked giant pretzels (£5), and The Frog’s smoked bratwurst with special crisp onions and German mustard, all served inside a soft bread roll, will cost £8.

What to Drink: The Weihenstephan Helles and The Weihenstephan Festbier, both come from the world’s oldest brewery in Freising, Germany. The ‘Helles’ provides mild hoppy notes and a pleasant fresh spicy taste whilst the ‘Festbier’ is said to truly represent the Bavarian way of celebrating, with a deep gold colour and lots of flavour. Both beers will be on tap with a 1 litre stein at £13 and a pint at £7.

Best for: Feasting and party vibes. From 1 October there’ll be a live DJ.
