Hit up The Vino Beano and impress your mates with your knowledge of independent growers producing delicious wines.
What to Expect
While most of us appreciate a good bottle of wine, on further questioning not many of us could relate more about it than the colour and the price. The Vino Beano is here to help – this new wine merchant specialises in high quality, affordable, lovingly produced and carefully selected wines with a back story. They support artisan producers, sharing stories of how they produce, take care of – and live and breathe – their wines.
What to Drink
The Vino Beano have sourced a varied range of wines from independent producers and they’re constantly on the hunt for more (we want their job!). The search function on their website allows you to enter the region, the vintage and the grower to find your perfect wine…or you can just narrow it down by price.
If it’s a nice bottle of red that you’re after, go for a Burgundy: the Bourgogne Rouge 2012, produced by Charles Audoin, is easy to drink and a wonderful accompaniment to cheese priced at £14.08 a bottle, while the Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge 2014 – slightly more at £24 a bottle – from Domaine Vincent Ledy is rich, smooth and great with a steak.
If you’re more in to white, try the Chablis 2015 from Domaine Gueguen at £14.17 a bottle; it’s crisp and refreshing on a summer’s evening.
If you’re guilty of buying whichever wine is on offer at your local supermarket, The Vino Beano will open your eyes to smaller producers…and give you a story to tell that focuses on the wine itself rather than on the hangover it gave you.
Get a group together for one of The Vino Beano’s tasting masterclasses, which are available throughout London and the South East. You’ll leave with a new-found confidence when choosing your tipple…and that won’t just be because of the amount of wine you’ve sunk.
