Meatopia is a meat-fuelled weekend to satisfy the biggest carnivores.

meatopia ukThe concept is simple: over 20 chefs, each creating a bespoke dish, cooked over fire… that’s over logs or charcoal, no fancy flames here. It’s the real deal.

Top UK and international chefs, restaurants and butchers are coming together for a two-day street food feast frenzy; Meatopia UK promises to serve you the best of the best.

There’s Old Skool Saturday (Saturday 6 September) and Nu Skool Sunday (Sunday 7 September), take your pick. Or go to both, we won’t judge.

So what’s all the fuss about? Dishes include whole spatch-cocked chickens roasted on the grill from Brad MacDonald of Lockhart; hara bhara lamb cutlets from Dan Doherty of Duck & Waffle; St. Louis pork ribs from the king of the Smokestak rib cage David Carter; jerked pulled pork with fried plantain from Gianluca Ivaldi of Miss P’s; bbq whole slow cooked goat tacos from Neil Rankin of Smokehouse; pit smoked lamb in a steamed bun from Joe McCafferty of Flesh & Buns; lamb cutlet with dirty mac from Ross Clarke of Dirty Bones; and Bobby’s glazed smoked goose ‘Banh Mi’ sandwich from Bobby Chin of House of Ho.

And on Sunday Charley Carrol of Flat Iron will be serving up a whole spit roasted ox. Now that’s dedication to the cause.

For those of you who want a good old-fashioned burger they’ve got that covered, too. The burger with comte cheese, pulled beef ribs, baconnaise and smoked chillis is the brainchild of Siggi Gunnlaugsson of Icelandic Tommi’s Burgers; then there’s the (intriguingly vague) Californication burger from Liam Tse of Almost Famous; the MeisterShack burger from Mark Rosati of Shake Shack, New York; and Bleecker St Burger’s Zan Kaufman is serving up the Bleecker backyard 60 day burger.

Each dish is 1 Meatbuck (£5) and comes in a taster size so you can rack up as many as you like – the idea is to mix it up and share.

Meatopia UK are an ethical bunch too, all meat has been raised naturally, butchered locally to where it lived and totally hormone, antibiotic and cruelty free.

And the four bars, top DJ sets, art installations, informal workshops and street theatre may distract you from the meat, for a minute at least…

Street food heaven. Pure and simple.
