For seven days, from 6 to 12 October, 200 of London’s top bars are uniting to celebrate the art, and the joy, of cocktails.
A £15 wristband entitles you to special £4 cocktails; Shop & Sip free cocktail samples in the streets of Covent Garden’s Seven Dials; plus stores are teaming with LCW drinks partners to provide free tasters and expert masterclasses. There are dinners popping up too, look out for Australian chef Chris Jordan who is creating a four-course feast inspired by “Birds & The Bees” with cocktail master Pank Hendrik Overbeek mixing up matching drinks with his own honey infused spirits at Golden Pie, Lavender Hill. With courses like Four and 20 Blackbirds and Funky Pigeon, we’re intrigued (11 Oct, 7pm, £30).
And how about the Flaming Flamingo Cocktail Extravaganza BYO supper club at a private home in London Bridge where each course is based on a famous cocktail, starting with Margarita moving through to Bloody Mary, Pina Colada, White Russian and a Bramble for dessert – the fresh and spicy dishes will be revealed on the night (11 Oct, 7.30pm, £45).
And if you’re looking for something really special, London Cocktail Week specialises in just that. Why not hire out Charlie’s Cocktail Caravan in the garden of Shoreditch’s the Victoria? It comes at a price (£99), but it fits 12 people and includes a bottle of your choice from a selection of Absolut, Beefeater, Havana Especial or Jose Cuervero Tequila and mixers. So get crafty and create your own cocktails in the caravan. Or feeling lazy? Pay a little extra (£25) to have them made (demonstrated) for you…
There are more events than we can keep count of: the Soho Food Walk with Hiccups (11 Oct, 10.30am yes you read right early birds, £65); Rum Club Food Pairing with El Dorado in Notting Hill (6 Oct, 7.30pm, £6); Les Femmes du Bar Aperitif of Happiness in Shoreditch (6 Oct, 5th, free); and much, much more.
Is it cocktail ‘o’ clock yet?
