Street food vendors from around the world go head to head in Shoreditch at the International Street Food Challenge pop up this August.

TravelSupermarket’s International Street Food Challenge, on Thursday 13 August, will bring together leading street food vendors from around the world – and best of all it’s totally free.

So how does it all work? You become a food judge for the day, receive a complimentary taster from each street food vendor, cast your vote and at the end of the event the winner is crowned.

The leading street food vendors were chosen to compete after showing the ‘best in class’ street food from their country, and the line-up includes cuisines from France, Italy, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and America.

The International Street Food Challenge was born after TravelSupermarket found that over half (56%) of the UK think that food is more important than the nightlife when choosing a holiday.

The research also showed that one quarter of the UK admitted that they have booked a holiday purely because they wanted to try the food of the destination. We heartily concur.

So with the stats firmly suggesting that we’re a nation of food obsessives, TravelSupermarket is launching the International Street Food Challenge in Shoreditch to help you choose your next holiday destination.

French chefs Copper and Wheat from Copenhagen are even flying in their own brand of potatoes and duck fat for the event to ensure 100% authenticity.

If that’s not enough to get you down there, we’re not sure what is.

When? Thursday 13 August, from 12pm until 9pm.

Where? The Back Building, 148-150 Curtain Road, Shoreditch EC2A 3AR

Price: Entry and food is free, but there’s a paying bar.

Tube: Old Street (or Shoreditch High Street overground)
