Big Fat Greek Festival

News  /

Stop! Don’t book your holiday to that pretty Greek isle, because Greece is coming to you. Four days of feta, olives, smashed plates… Ok, I’ll refrain from stereotyping and give you the facts.

One olive, two olives, three olives more…

The event goes by the name: Greece Welcomes You In London – Food and Art, and brings you a selection of top Greek food producers, entrepreneurs and industry professionals; and some live cookery demonstrations (with tastings, of course) to boot.

What’s more, it’s the kind or market where you can take the produce home and show off to your friends at the next picnic with your sweet Greek pastries, authentic olives, cold cuts and scented hams. If it’s a certain kind of picnic you can even bring out Greece’s famous tipple: ouzo.

A mountain of feta, please..

There’ll be cheese from regions across Greece, pies, sausages – even the odd snail (not just reserved for France).

And then there are the more surprising products. Did you know Greece makes a pretty good scented jam from fresh fruit? And scented honey with thyme?

Greece Welcomes You In London will house a range of local Greek produce under one roof.

So it’s not all about the food (maybe). A good Greek shindig comes with folk art creations, hand-crafted goods (stock up on Christmas gifts, I hear you cry?) and beautiful books.

But I know I’ll find you trying out the row upon row of Greek virgin oil.
