We came, we saw, we tasted. With over 200 exhibitors to choose from, picking our top five experiences at Taste of London was no mean feat. Now it’s over to you to track down these top restaurants around London. Happy hunting…

1. Pizarro

For starters (above), the leg of Jamón Ibérico 100% (acorn fed, of course) being expertly sliced by the guys at José Pizarro’s tapas spot caught our attention. It’s the perfect place to begin, with simple, cured, lush Spanish tapas. And if you’re feeling adventurous you can try his grilled octopus with creamy potato, pimentón and egg caviar.

2. Ember Yard

Now, we do not use the words: best ever, in vain here at Street Eats, but we can truly say Ember Yard’s croquettes were the BEST we have EVER had. Think smooth, warm, soft, oozing goat’s cheese within a lightly breadcrumbed shell, with (oh yes) enough wild garlic pesto to send a hoard of strangers running from your beautiful scent. But it is just that – beautiful. And a bargain at just £4 for two.

3. Roka

We didn’t let the crowds put us off this little number; the flock of foodies swarming the tent to get their hands on dumplings, lamb cutlets in Korean spices and (you heard right) eels in teriyaki sauce have every right to stampede the place down. Well, almost. We went for the subtle baby chicken with lemon, miso and garlic soy. What can we say? Roka lives up to its name, this sweet and spicy tasting dish balanced a crispy charcoal texture with carefully marinaded spices, just right.

4. Lyle’s

It may not look much, but the tender lamb’s sweetbread (it’s not bread, it’s offal) with wild garlic and yoghurt is the bee’s knees. Trust us. And once you’ve done that, the cardo (goat’s cheese) on toast with honey and walnuts is oh so tempting…

5. Mortimer’s Orchard Bar

After all that feasting Mortimer’s Orchard Bar (offering premium draught cider) was the perfect spot to chill out and hydrate with a refreshing apple-based beverage. And what does every cider bar need? Why a silent disco of course!
