This summer, The Queen of Hoxton‘s iconic rooftop will be reincarnated as A Tribute to Doctor Strange, a homage to the swinging summer of ’67.

If you’re a fan of peace, love and food, then get ready to enter a world suspended in the ’60s, and dipped in psychedelic colours and trippy tastes.

Who are They?

The East London bar – renowned for its seasonal rooftop transformations – has this year teamed up with festival production maestros Mad Ferret to bring a small corner of San Francisco to the capital. Londoners are invited to celebrate a time when freedom, psychedelia, peace, and flower power reigned.

What to Try

Before you tuck into some of the more indulgent offerings, The Queen is offering some slightly healthier fare, in the form of a BBQ salmon fillet or a superfood salad. Perfect for those who want to leave room for dessert!

What to Drink

Bring your friends and – in the words of The Beatles, our ’60s heroes – come together to quench your thirst with the punnily named retro punch bowl The Limes They Are a Changin’. If sharing’s not your thing, make sure you sample the take on the classic margarita, which is served refreshingly frozen, and packed with blood oranges.

Best for…

No ’60s celebration would be complete without the humble ice-cream float. The Queen’s nod to this childhood favourite are two boozy brews, from local suppliers Dalston Cola and artisan ice-cream geniuses Hackney Lick, made with rum or gin – depending on your preferred tipple.

Don’t Miss

Yummies Deli rainbow tie-dye ice-cream sandwiches! Indulge in a delicious scoop of artisan salted caramel ice cream from Hackney Lick, sandwiched between a sweet trippy Yummies Deli Rainbow Bagel. Oh, and don’t leave without sampling the glitter face painting!

The psychedelic rooftop is just a short trip from Shoreditch High Street and Liverpool Street.

Queen of Hoxton | 1 Curtain Road, London, EC2A 3JX. You can travel back in time ‘til October 2016. FREE ENTRY*. Opening hours: Mon-Sun 12-10pm
