The Tooting takeover is back! Tootopia three-day, multi-venue festival sees local spots opening their doors – or you can set off on one of the unique food and drink trails.
What to Expect
Tootopia, descending on south London’s Tooting from 23 to 25 September, will give you the chance to explore the best hidden local gems through activities, workshops and outdoor parties curated by local businesses, as well as the ultimate Street Food Takeover.
There’ll be live music across the weekend at gig venue Tooting Tram & Social featuring BBC Introducing‘s Tourists plus DJ 7OEL, Silent Crowd, Zach Said, and Luke May. And Sunday sees the Tram Music Quiz plus 90s video games for Retro Sundays.
What to Eat
First thing’s first, check out the Street Food Takeover hosted by Graveney & Meadow, including Gyoza Guys; Le Bao; The Gravy Train, serving French-Canadian poutine; middle-eastern Laffa; tapas from Tibieri; Greek Souvlaki Bros; and introducing Salvador Lane Barbecue – Graveney & Meadow’s very own street food. Eat alongside bands and DJs ’til sunset.
For something a little different, try out the Foodie Trail where you’ll be guided to 10 of Tooting’s best food spots. New for this year are Belpassi Bros, who’ll be serving up wholesome homemade meatballs.
What to Drink
This year, Tootopia has added Thirst Quest to the menu – join this crawl to make your way through 10 of Tooting’s top juice bars, bottle shops and breweries. Pit stops include Broadway Market newbies Craft Tooting and cider-den Pilango, plus established old favourites The Selkirk, Gorringe Park and the Antelope Pub with its new Craft Beer Bar.
If you’re not from Tooting this is the perfect chance to discover something new. Tootopia puts it all on a plate for you too, so there’s no excuse not to pop by and celebrate something of #LocalLondon.
As well as eating and drinking your way around Tootopia make sure you check out the more weird and wonderful offerings, such as the Tootopia Pooch Parade Dog Show, a pop-up Barbershop, the Bowie Bowling lane at The Antelope pub, Tooting Market 90s Party, Virtual Reality brewery tours, plus have a laugh at critically acclaimed comedy fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
