Street Eats: Skylight

Drink, Food, News  /

Opening this summer at Tobacco Dock, head to Skylight for a rooftop with a difference, which captures the spirit of a quintessentially British garden party.

What to Expect

Try your hand at petanque while you take in the view from the top three floors of this former car park out east (it’s worth climbing the stairs for!). Themed around a British urban lawn club, Skylight will be serving up street food and cocktails as the temperature rises, with signature lawn games and great tunes to boot.

What to Eat

The British theme doesn’t continue with the food – although the sizeable queue to get your hands on it is very British.

Head down to the lower level to find street food vendors offering a range of cuisines: choose from flavoursome Thai dishes from Krapow, delicious burgers from We Serve Humans, and Greek delights from Yiro (don’t miss the Halloumi Fries).

Vegetarian dishes are available from each vendor, as well as gluten-free options.

Enjoy street food from vendors such as Yiro

What to Drink

There are bars on each level, ensuring you won’t go thirsty. There are four European beers available on draught, along with Champagne and spirits. Check out the summer cocktail list, all made using Absolut vodka; the Swedish Summer Cocktail includes elderflower to incorporate seasonal British flavours.

Best for…

Get a gang together for an afternoon of games, or bring your date at sunset and cuddle up under one of the blankets provided if you get cold. Head up to the bar on the upper level for a great view of the City.

Don’t Miss

Don’t leave without having a game of croquet. Although if you’re competitive, it may be best to play before you hit the Champers!
