Oh, Street Eats do like to be beside the seaside… Coming soon to the heart of the city is summer pop-up Seaside in the Sky, at Searcys at The Gherkin.
What to Expect
Imagine being back at the seaside —complete with striped deckchairs and rows of colourful beach huts — only 39 storeys above the city. With two floors to the pop up — the 40th floor will host the Beach Hut bar and the 39th floor will host Coastline restaurant — Seaside in the Sky is about to bring that seaside vibe to Searcys.
What to Eat
Executive chef and former fisherman Barry Tonks showcases some of the country’s best produce in classic dishes at Coastline restaurant — think fish and chips, homemade pork pie and rump of lamb.
Delicious desserts include a tasty sherry trifle, rice pudding and bread and butter pudding, and not forgetting some of the best British cheeses, too.
What to Drink
Two of our finest British drinks producers have collaborated with the pop up. Nyetimber will pair four varieties of its sparkling wine with the menu’s dishes. Our favourite is the rosé, which pairs well with just about anything.
For those who love gin, Plymouth Gin has created a selection of cocktails, including a take on the classic British Pimm’s.
The Beach Hut is great for catching up with friends over drinks, while couples or groups will also enjoy the fun ambience and British grub at Coastline.
Chef Tonks will be offering a taste of the seaside by serving a selection of shellfish, such as mussels, cockles, crab and oysters, at the Beach Hut.
