Hidden in plain sight in Finsbury Square, escape the bustle of the City and feast on seasonal British tapas at Nest’s latest pop-up, ‘Summer on the Square’.

What to Expect

Walking through the door, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped in to your much cooler friend’s summer house. The vibe is relaxed and thrown together, but every detail – from the tealights hanging from the ceiling to the pink bathroom suite in the ladies’ toilet – has been carefully and cleverly designed by the team, friends Johnnie, Toby and Luke.

Smoked eel, jerusalem artichoke & lovage

Johnnie is the chef, serving up a menu of small plates with seasonal British ingredients, while you’ll find Toby and Luke front of house, plying guests with ‘cockless tails’ and stories of their adventures taking their pop-up around the UK.

What to Eat

Small but perfectly formed, the changing menu showcases the flavours of British summertime. The small plates of joy are made for sharing: select three or four plates per person and tuck in to favourites including Ploughman’s Croquettes (what could be better than deep-fried melted cheese and ham?), Soda Bread with Roast Pork Fat Butter and Stone Bass and Ham Broth.

Most of the dishes contain meat or fish, but the guys will happily accommodate any dietary requirements. Don’t miss the Doughnuts to finish, with glorious dipping sauces made from rhubarb and chocolate.

Bring along a tipple of your choice for the ‘cockless tails’

What to Drink

BYOB ready to spike the ‘cockless tails’ – mocktails made with home-brewed cordial, such as Rhubarb and Ginger or Cucumber, Lime and Juniper. For a £2.50 corkage fee, you can be in charge of your own measures all night!

There’s also wine and beer on offer and refreshing House Lemonade served on the rocks.

Get competitive with a board game

Don’t Miss

Sunshine-permitting, venture outside and kick back on the patio overlooking the square. Although the weather isn’t guaranteed, you’re guaranteed to leave feeling full and relaxed!
