There’s no need to head to the coast to find great seafood – CLAW have opened up their first permanent takeaway spot right in the middle of the City.
What to Expect
After doing the rounds at festivals and various pop-up bars and restaurants over the last couple of years, CLAW now have their very own permanent hangout in Broadgate.
CLAW have been champions of the humble crab since 2015, when Fabian Clark discovered that 80% of British crab is exported. By dealing directly with fishermen and cutting out the middlemen, he’s since shown that crab can be sustainable as well as affordable, and he has put it back on the menu for lunching Londoners.
What to Eat and Drink
The star of the show has to be the glistening, toasted brioche Crab Roll, packed with delicious crab fresh from Salcombe Bay. But you’d be mad to overlook the Lobster and Crayfish Roll, filled with plump, juicy lobster from the Devon coast, or the Poké Roll with diced Hampshire trout.
Grab a roll to go for lunch, or add a side of fries to make it a meal. Don’t miss the Crab on Fries. Because whoever thought of smothering fries with crab and mayonnaise is a genius.
And for a carb-free option, go for a salad rather than a roll.
Wash it down with a vitamin-packed smoothie, soft drink or locally brewed beer… the guys at CLAW have got it covered.
Escape your desk and enjoy a leisurely bite, either in the casual seating area or in buzzing Broadgate Circle.
CLAW will be hosting a one-off Seafood & Craft Beer Feast on Thursday 10 August from 7pm.
Get feasting at this pairing dinner, which will bring together top UK craft breweries, showcasing unique brews, each of which will be paired with a six course menu.
Brews to taste include Siren Craft Brewery’s Pomelmocello, Magic Rock Brewery’s Salty Kiss Gose and an impressive entry from The Wild Beer Co, Of the Sea – made with Lobsters, cockles, sea salt and Kombu.
The menu is a departure from the regular offering at CLAW including inventive dishes such as Crab Beignets with pickled sea vegetables, XO Crab and Kelp & Cured egg yolk. Josh has also conjured two dessert beer pairings including a millionaire shortbread paired with the Wild Beer Co’s chocolate and salted caramel milk stout – the perfect taste to end the night.
