Rib Fest 2016: The Blues Kitchen

Food, News  /

Kick off your Bank Holiday Easter Monday with a meaty feast. From Monday 28 March ’til Thursday 31 March, Rib Fest 2016 will transform Brixton’s The Blues Kitchen into a smoking fire pit serving ribs from some of the world’s finest Pitmasters.

Award-winning chefs from the US will take residency, as well as one of London’s best street-food traders, working from a custom-built, 108-inch smoker.

Monday kicks off with DJ BBQ, who will be cooking British High Welfare Pork. There will also be music with Dave James’ Acoustic Blues.

Tuesday belongs to one of London’s finest street food guys: The Rib Man, who sources his ribs from farms in Norfolk and Suffolk. Don’t miss meat covered in THAT Holy Fuck or Christ on a Bike sauce. If your ears aren’t burned off listen to some Bluegrass from the Ben Sommers Band.

Wednesday will serve up classic Southern ribs from Shotgun BBQ’s Brad McDonald. Mississippi-born McDonald will be serving the Jacob’s Ladder cut, smoked over oak woods for 16 hours in true Memphis style and dishing them up with some Kosher dill pickle slices and onions. Don’t miss Old Hat Jazz Band’s Swing Night.

Thursday ends the festival with a showcase of the Pitmaster collective, Home Team BBQ from South Carolina, USA. These guys will be serving Carolina style St Louis Pork Rib, smoked over hardwood for 12 hours with mac ‘n’ cheese, collard greens, pickles and Alabama white BBQ sauce.

All ribs will be paired with a signature bourbon complementing each Pitmaster’s smoky stack, served with two sides for just £20 exclusively at The Blues Kitchen Brixton from 4pm to 9pm.

To celebrate Rib Fest, a stack of the Short Beef Rib (traditionally Texan) and two stacks of the melt in your mouth St Louis Pork Rib, will be priced at £10 across all The Blues Kitchen restaurants in Camden, Shoreditch and Brixton throughout the four days.

The Blues Kitchen Brixton | 40 Acre Lane, London SW2 5EP | Open weekdays from 4pm until late, and weekends from 10am | Reservations are available on 020 7274 0591 or via www.theblueskitchen.com/Brixton
