Who needs to carve pumpkins over the Halloween weekend when you can get yourself to Pop Brixton for Pop Fright!
From Tuesday 27 October to Sunday 1 November, Pop Fright brings you Halloween-themed events with a foodie twist.
On Friday 30 October, expect a few treats up the food traders’ sleeves with seasonal tastes to try. Pumpkins are on the menu: Kricket, the Indian small plates bar, will have a few secret pumpkin-based dishes along with “freaky cocktails”. Mama’s Jerk will also be carving up with a jerk spiced pumpkin soup. Don’t miss the pumpkin curry with a Japanese twist from Kyonocha.
Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen will be bringing out an Okra spook, aka soup, (lady fingers beware), as well as Hells Fire Beef Shoka (owww) and Akara Frighters. Our fish and chip favourites Hook will have a trick or treat “Hell Dish Challenge” – will it be spicy?
Fright Film & Crafts
Take the kids, or yourselves – we won’t judge, to a free screening of Hocus Pocus on Thursday 29 October, or ultimate horror fans can wait for a screening of The Exorcist later that night. The Mexican Day of the Dead theme comes out with a sugar skull making workshop with Make Do and Mend on Saturday 31 October, as well as a Mexican bunting Papel Picado workshop with Maria Sabina Sunday 1 November. And just in case you do want to get in on the pumpkin carving, there’ll be pumpkin carving with Donostia on Friday!
Don’t miss bobbing for apples, face painting, music and more.
