So you owe your mum a fair amount of Sunday roasts? Here’s the easy option… take her out to the chic Island Grill at West London’s Lancaster London on Sunday 6 March for fine dining (see above image) and views of Hyde Park. The restaurant at this swanky address will be putting on a three-course Sunday Roast (less basting more tasting), with a choice of starters and desserts. Best for… tea-lovers
Too tired to make it out of the house? No matter. Mother’s Day is incomplete without a good old cuppa. Treat your mum to something a little different from the Earl Grey this Sunday, with T2‘s new special teas. If your mum needs to put her feet up check out Peace, Love & Peppermint loose leaf tea, a soulful mix of chamomile and lavender topped with a fresh hint of mint. Smokey Signals loose leaf tea is a warming mix of soft silky smoke pairs with sweet cinnamon for a dark, barky brew. Or if you’re looking for something fruity, grab Happy Sippy Citrus loose leaf tea for citrus and sweet strawberry flavours. Ahhh. And if that’s not a big enough pull, the stores offer a beautiful, contemporary space to explore, with floor to ceiling “tea libraries”.

Best for… steak and cocktails
Afternoon tea not quite hitting the spot? Head for a meat feast at Foxlow, for dry-aged steaks, fried chicken or the Roast Longhorn Beef Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. Each of the four branches are sure to offer a relaxed atmosphere in a cool, sophisticated setting. And you can wash it all down with unlimited Bloody Mary cocktails for just £14pp from 10am ’til 3pm on Sunday.
Best for… street food
Squeezing into a packed street-food venue like Street Feast’s Hawker House after dark, may not be the first thing on your mum’s wish list, but open her eyes to the incredible food on offer once inside and you’ll have her gatecrashing your nights for weeks to come.
Where else would you find juicy, perfectly smoked ribs (Smokestak), succulent pork belly steamed buns (Yum Bun), Indian spiced mini-naan sliders (Rola Wala) and much more all under one roof? And sharing’s key, making for some serious mother-daughter/mother-son foodie bonding. If Canada Water’s not within your reach, check out Street Feast’s Dinerama every Thursday/Friday/Saturday near Old Street and start Mother’s Day early.
