VQ, the 24 hour café and diner that has been feeding and watering customers round the clock for 20 years in Chelsea and more recently on Great Russell Street WC1, has opened its first non-24 hour site at 24 Pembridge Road, Notting Hill.
What to Expect
VQ Notting Hill offers a comprehensive menu filled with classic comfort dishes. Open til 3am on Saturdays, the restaurant is perfect for a late-night coffee, and is a hot spot for dates as its chilled and friendly atmosphere offers a relaxing alternative to the busy bars and chicken shops (other late night food shops are available) usually open at that hour.
The restaurant prides itself on flexibility, and its inclusive philosophy and ability to adapt around the clock offers the ultimate customer convenience – and also means diners don’t have to choose! If you and your friends are stuck between a few different options, the chef will divide up the dishes for you so you don’t have to deal with the drama of splitting your burger in half, or trying to share out the dishes’ accompaniments into equal portions.
What to Eat
They serve up a range of hearty dishes, including ribs, pasta, and burgers, as well as classic British desserts – we recommend the Banoffee Pie. However, they also offer a number of tasty small plates which are ideal for grazing or snacking, including Truffled Potato Crisps and Chorizo and Sautéed Potatoes.
The restaurant’s most popular dishes are the carb-tastic Club Sandwich, Mac and Cheese, and Penne with Mozzarella and Cherry Tomatoes.
Carnivores will enjoy the Baby Back Ribs which are smothered in BBQ sauce and come with the meat falling off the bone. Top tip – don’t forget to double up!
What to Drink
The milkshakes are a firm favourite with customers. Thick and creamy, their Oreo flavour is the most popular, however we recommend trying the Honeycomb. Deliciously sweet, it’s a great replacement for a dessert, and the honeycomb is homemade on site.
Famed for its all-day breakfast, you can choose from Pancakes, Bubble and Squeak or a Full English morning, noon or night. We hear the Double Eggs Benedict is a particular favourite among customers.
If you’re struggling to decide, we suggest you sample the Falafel Burger. Made in the restaurant, it comes crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, accompanied with VQ spiced carrots, hummus and tzatziki and is best served with sweet potato fries. Veggie heaven!
