Street Eats: Patty & Bun

Drink, Food, News  /

A long-time favourite food joint at pop-ups across London, Patty & Bun has expanded its chain of permanent fixtures with a spanking new restaurant in Notting Hill.

What to Expect

Following the launch of their epic Richmond Road site earlier this year, Patty & Bun have opened their second joint of 2017, this time in West London. Slide on to a wooden bench in the oh-so-cool space in Notting Hill (think exposed brick contrasted by P&B’s trademark “Pink and filthy” neon signage) and order a cocktail while you peruse the menu of mouth-watering burgers and sides.

What to Eat

There are five burgers to choose from – plus a monthly special, coming soon – full to bursting with the tastiest ingredients. Take the Smokey Robinson, for example – aged beef patty cooked to order and topped with cheese, caramelised onions, bacon, smokey P&B mayo, ketchup, lettuce and tomato and served in a soft, brioche bun. Then there’s the ‘Hot Chic’ Chicken Burger, with fried buttermilk chicken, coleslaw, pickled cucumber, smoked garlic aioli, lettuce and brioche.

There’s only one vegetarian burger on the menu, but oh my, does it hit the spot: the Portobello ‘Dig It’ burger includes a braised field mushroom fritter with garlic butter, cheese sauce, tarragon mayo, coleslaw and lettuce in a brioche bun. Delish! Don’t overlook the sides… the signature Chips with rosemary salt are a must, and for an all-out chicken fest, go for Winger Winger Chicken Dinner, smoked confit wings with BBQ sauce and spring onions, or Brisket Nuggets with kimchi mayo.

What to Drink

There are cocktails aplenty (don’t miss the daily happy hour from 5pm to 7pm), including favourites such as the Margarita and Moscow Mule, as well as P&B’s own take on classics, like the Pink Mojito – a blend of dark rum, fresh mint, lime, sugar and cranberry juice. There’s a good selection of both draught and bottled beers and wines too, while indulgent milkshakes will soon make an appearance on the menu.

Best for…

A casual dinner with mates or your date. Approach with caution if you’re on a first date though – and keep a stash of napkins by your side to rectify the inevitable sauce on face/hands/shirt situation.

Don’t Miss

The Cheese Balls with XXX Hot Sauce… because what’s not to love about deep-fried, oozing melted cheese?
