Check out oh-so-cool new opening Number 177 Bar & Kitchen, bringing together art, music, food and drink in The Number Group’s Berlin-influenced East London venue.

What to Expect

Half way down Hoxton Street you’ll find Number 177. Shaking up the art and music scene, this bar and kitchen serves delicious food (think burgers and salads) and cocktails in a space where you can discover art from contemporary artists, before dancing to sets from London’s coolest DJs. There’ll also be regular events, from burlesque life drawing classes to boozy book clubs.

What to Eat

Burgers are big on the menu here. Don’t miss the Number 177 Charcoal Beef Burger served in a charcoal bun with in-house sauce, Red Leicester cheese, lettuce and tomato. Don’t be put off by the colour, the charcoal bun is soft and sweet.

Vegans are spoilt for choice too, with the Vegan Burger – a chickpea and courgette patty served in a vegan roll with lettuce, tomato and an avocado sauce. For a healthier option, try the picturesque Buddha Salad, combining quinoa, sliced red rainbow beetroot, avocado, shredded carrot and an avocado dressing. You’ll be glowing from the inside out!

What to Drink

If you have a sweet tooth, then the cocktail menu is the one. The Berry Bush includes house gin, basil leaves, berry purée, lime, sugar and a candy berry garnish (with tuck shop-style sweets to take you back a few years), while the Lemon Pie is as good as a dessert – lemon mousse and Absolut vanilla vodka are mixed together and served in a glass with a digestive biscuit rim.

German beer fans rejoice, as there are three to choose from on tap. A good selection of wine and cider is available too.

A cooler version of your usual night out – great food and drink with an effortless East German edge. Take your mates or your date.

Don’t Miss

If you’re in the market for a new print for your living room, the art on the walls is available to buy. If not, check out the toilets – the sinks are made from old beer kegs.
